Hi there! I'm Peter Lewis, and, along with my beautiful wife Christine, I have the tremendous honour of leading the amazing group of people we call Breakthrough Church.
Below I've shared a little bit of our heart as the lead Pastors of Breakthrough. We'd love you to check it out and learn a bit more about the Breakthrough family!
Just a small town boy
I grew up in the beautiful Victorian town of Yarrawonga on the Murray River. When I was 15 I had a significant encounter with God, where He challenged me to give Him my whole life and serve Him. So as a bright-eyed, freckle-faced teenager I moved to the big city of Melbourne, worked at an Engineering firm whilst completing Bible college, and have been serving God as a pastor since 1993.
Equipping the body
My greatest passion as a pastor is equipping the body for the work of ministry. I see my role as training and empowering the beautiful people of Breakthrough to live in the fulness of all God has designed them for, and take His breakthrough love and power to our community, city and world.
I'm a teacher at heart, so love nothing more than opening my Bible with a bunch of hungry people and diving into the amazing mysteries of God, letting them prune and change us along the way!
My wife, Christine
It's an incredible honour to lead Breakthrough along with my beautiful wife Christine, who is an exceptional pastor in her own right. Not only does she lead and teach powerfully, but she has an incredible anointing to make Breakthrough a family. She has this amazing knack of making every person who steps through our doors feel like they're home, and our Breakthrough family is so much richer because of it.
The next generation
As a couple, our greatest joy is doing this journey with our four kids (Caleb, Katelyn, Brooke and Jordan), as well as their spouses and our growing collection of grandkids. Each of them have grown into powerful ministers and leaders, who have great impact both inside the four walls of Breakthrough and beyond through their own lives and powerful ministries they've launched.
Nothing is more exciting for us than seeing them and their generation take this mission further than we could, and we continually thank God for the exciting work He is doing in and through the Breakthrough family!
