Rapid Fire

1) Favourite movie:
The Greatest Showman! (with The Sound of Music coming in a close second)

2) What was your first email address?
Gosh, this is humbling to write… brookelovesmin@hotmail.com
"Min" was in reference to our dog “Minnie”…. however I swiftly updated my email address after a new boy joined our class in Year 2… his name was Min.

3) If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?

Tea Dresses of the 1950s.

4) What movie have you watched recently that you’d recommend?

This is a dangerous question to ask me, coz once I start to recommend movies...it's very hard for me to stop talking!

  • If you want a laugh... Old Dogs (or Barbie!)
  • If you want a cry... Saving Mr Banks.
  • If you want to be inspired... Jesus Revolution.
  • If you want to see a work of art... La La Land.
  • If you want to see a movie that's very underrated... See How They Run.
  • If you want a very clever plot... Oceans Eleven.
  • If you want amazing chemistry... The Sound of Music.
  • If you want a standout performance... Helen Mirren in The Queen.
  • If you want a movie that I can quote... High School Musical 3.
  • If you want the movie that made me fall in love with movies... Hunger Games: Catching Fire

5) Favourite Season:

I'm going to say summer... purely coz summer means CHRISTMAS!

6) If you could hang out with any cartoon character, who would you choose?

I think Rapunzel and I would get along pretty well. But I'd also love to score some "cool Aunty points" by bringing Bluey and Bingo to dinner.

.

7) Which song can you listen to all day long?

Can I just answer with the entire soundtracks of The Greatest Showman, The Little Mermaid (2023) and Cinderella: Original 2013 Broadway Cast Recording.

And if I had to pick the song from these three albums which I listen to the most... it'd be From Now On, For The First Time and Loneliness of Evening.

Fun fact... (according to my phone) between July 2022 and December 2022... I listened to the Cinderella Broadway album 540 times!

8) What was your favourite prank in "Home Alone"?

Does the scene in the Hotel where he gets all the staff to get down on their knee and say "I love you" count as a prank?! Cos that scene cracks me up.

9) Do you prefer sweet or savoury?

Sweet!

10) Which Christmas movie(s) do you watch every season?

Elf. Home Alone. Home Alone 2. Arthur Christmas. It's A Wonderful Life. Holidy Inn. White Christmas. And a whole lot of Hallmarks!

The Deep End

1) What passage of the Bible has influenced your life the most and why?

1 Samuel 16 is filled with highlights, scribbled notes, underlines, words circled and sticky notes. I spent months studying the scriptures between David being anointed as King, and actually becoming King back in 2019... and it changed my life! The greatest revelations that God has ever shown me, have come from David's journey and life.

The things which really stood out to me were:

  1. He was given an assignment which was utterly impossible. You couldn't just decide to be royal, you were born into it - yet God made a way where there was no way.
  2. David wasn't given the skills needed to be King, he was given the anointing needed to be King.
And in May 2023, Breakthrough was given an anointing of favour!
  3. David's first step was to actually serve the very man who was living his dream; he was to play the harp for King Saul.
  4. David was given this grand assignment, yet continued to faithfully serve as a Shepherd and just waited for God's timing.
  5. Jesse continually called for his other sons to be presented to Samuel... but then the Prophet called for David. Even if your name is never called by man, God will call it.
  6. It wasn't David's leadership skills that God used to open a door, it was his heart for worship and his revelation of his covenant.

2) Is there a moment where you’ve seen God’s favour shine in your career?

In 2017 I stumbled across a Hallmark movie (insert cheer!) that starred Meghan Markle. I watched it and loved it, especially the lead actor's performance. I'd never seen him before but really liked his acting style. A couple of months later, he signed a contract with Hallmark and released a dozen movies with them. We watched all his movies and he quickly became our favourite Hallmark star. Then I discovered that he and his family were actually really strong Christians. So now he was definitely our favourite!

In 2021, I was given the opportunity to participate in an acting course that he was running. 50% of the course was him sharing his methodology for acting, the other 50% was him speaking on sharing Jesus in and through the film industry.

That course opened up an amazing favour connection with Kristoffer Polaha, and he has since become a great friend and mentor. He's helped me with my acting, my writing and my walk with God.

And having him take part in 2022's Movie Sunday Sermon is something I'm forever grateful for.

When I think back to first watching his movie in 2017... I'd never have imagined what God's favour would've opened up.
