"What would I do?"
I read this question in Pastor Steven Furtick’s book, Do the New You, earlier this month. It’s a question that both encouraged and challenged me.
Pastor Steven shared about those moments when life feels stuck. You may know the feeling—you’ve been believing and praying, yet nothing seems to be happening. You just feel… stuck.
It’s discouraging.
Pastor Steven explained that this simple question is a vital key in those stuck moments: WHAT WOULD I DO IF ______.
What would I do if the door had already opened?
What would I do if my body wasn’t in pain?
What would I do if every bill was paid?
What would I do if my daughter were speaking to me again?
I asked myself this question repeatedly, looking at all the unanswered prayers on my vision board. That’s when I realised—I wasn’t stuck. I had simply become discouraged because I couldn’t see any progress with my natural eyes.
What would I do if the door had already opened?
I had just planned my to-do list presuming it wouldn’t open anytime soon.
What would I do if every bill was paid?
I had been living each day with the anxiety of someone expecting to get to the end of the month and not have enough.
It’s easy to say, “I’m believing for a miracle”, but asking “What would I do?” helps me activate my faith and act on God’s promises.
I can say I’m expecting a warm, sunny day, but if I’m still wearing a raincoat and clutching an umbrella, my actions tell a different story.
This question—"What would I do?"—has been especially strong in my heart during this month of miracles.
What would I do with my schedule?
What would I do with my outlook on life?
What would I do with my words?
What would I do with my money?
What would I do with _________?
It might be a big step or a micro step, but the key is responding in faith to whatever God prompts me to do.
I can’t be the same Brooke I was in February because that Brooke hadn’t been told this was a specific time for miracles!
So this month, God prompted me to act on purpose, taking steps of faith, both big and small, in response to this season of miracles.
Let me finish by asking you…
What would you do in a season of miracles?
