Rapid Fire
  1. What was your first job? A junior stenographer to a PA of a Victorian manager of an insurance company.

  2. Can you tell us the story of the 'bells' when you met Graeme? (Thank you, Brooke!!) I had met Graeme once before through a friend who had a big “crush” on him. Months later, I was walking down a stairwell and looked down into the ballroom when I saw Graeme. I had a “moment” when I saw and heard church celebration bells and knew this was the man I would marry. I introduced myself, explaining I had met him through my friend. He didn’t let on he didn’t remember me, but asked me to dance, and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. 2025 will be 60 years of marriage.

  3. Party Animal or Homebody? Not sure I was a party animal, but was very social, entertaining a lot and liked being with people.

  4. What's your favourite childhood memory? Friday nights were special to me. We would have fish and chips, and share a block of chocolate. We also stayed up later and listened to the radio!! But the best thing was my parents would sing duets like If You Were the Only Boy (Girl) in the World. They both had beautiful voices and I can still hear them in my memory and the pleasure it gave me.

  5. If you could have any fictional character as a best friend, who would it be? Elizabeth Bennett. I think we would have gotten along very well.

  6. What's your comfort food? Lasagne or roast lamb.

  7. Favourite movie (other than Elf 😉): Probably no one has heard of it, The Magic of an Ordinary Day, which is a feel-good for me.

  8. What’s a crazy thing you’ve done as a parent? When I was younger, I decided one day to put on my wedding dress and greet Greame at the door after work, with my younger sons, David and James, announcing me. Unfortunately, that very morning we had a new gas heater installed, so Graeme walked straight past me, saying “Has the heater been installed?”

  9. Cheese or chocolate? Cheese, but I don’t mind chocolate occasionally.

  10. If you could have any historical artefact, what would it be? Water Lilies, a painting by Monet.
The Deep End

When was the moment Jesus became real and alive to you?

As a child at Easter time, I always watched any movie depicting the life of Jesus. I felt very close to Him and always sobbed at the crucifixion scene because I can’t remember any depiction of the resurrection. So there was always a sense of deep loss until I had an encounter with the ministry of Billy Graham when I embraced the Lord.

Name something you learnt at Breakthrough which has changed your life.

I learnt to pray effectively through Pastor David Reekie, and experienced a life-changing revelation through Pastor Peter, of the Truth “the application of Truth” and also an understanding of authority and its protection and empowerment.
