“Will you keep walking, even when it doesn’t seem to be working?” - Pastor Steven Furtick
This question recently arose in my heart, or really, an answer arose.
One morning in my devotion time with God, I’d poured out my heart to Him, asking Him for His strength and wisdom during a season when it appeared nothing was happening.
I have dreams on my Vision Board—dreams I know are from God—yet I saw no progress towards them. I asked God what to do, and this was His response:
“Will you keep walking, even when it doesn’t seem to be working?”
I knew the quote and knew the sermon it came from (Pastor Steven Furtick’s Don’t Stop On 6).
Suddenly, God added to the statement:
“You’re standing whilst it doesn’t seem to be working. You’re standing and waiting patiently. But why aren’t you walking? Why aren’t you still taking new ground? Why aren’t you taking steps of faith towards your destiny?”
I knew God’s additional statement was true. I was standing, but the lack of progress my natural eyes saw limited my steps.
It reminded me of a powerful sermon series by George Pearsons titled Bulldog Faith. If you haven’t heard it, I highly recommend you do!
The entire series is about this concept. Pastor George Pearsons teaches how we should have an offensive position in our faith and not a defensive position. We shouldn’t just be using our faith to withstand the devil’s attacks, but we should be plundering the enemy’s camp! We should be taking bold strides towards our promised land. Taking new ground every single day.
How do we do this? Everyone will need a different strategy, and you’ll need to spend time with your Heavenly Father for Him to reveal your personalised strategy.
This is the strategy the Lord has given me. “Walk for 20” is my catchphrase.
God has challenged me to spend 20 minutes each morning “walking towards my dreams”. I’ve created a list of things I can proactively do that will walk me towards my Promised Land. They are personalised for the visions in my heart.
So, what’s your promised land? What is it you’re walking towards? And what steps could you do by faith today?
Let’s not just stand while we wait. Let’s walk, knowing God is faithfully working behind the scenes.
